How much is American’s private business worth? When it comes to our luxury bathrooms, billions of dollars.

Welcome to the world of better homes and bathrooms. Where those flush with cash are sinking plenty. Marble, bronze, you name it. Chandeliers. Plasma Screen. Even a thing called a rain shower! Now, the bathroom is a room with a view. The bathroom business is booming.

“They’re looking for the effect that when their friends come in and see what they’ve done, they just go ‘wow’”, said designer June Lucas.

June Lucas’s design center helps people keep up with the Joneses’ . . .commode.

Market experts say this year Americans will spend about $22 billion dollars on luxury bathrooms. Up threefold in just three years!

From a $20 million dollar home for sale in Fort Lauderdale, where there was a Rembrandt hanging in the loo, realtor Tim Elmes says a bathroom can make or break a deal.

“At the minimum, it’s his and hers toilets. Even if there’s one bathroom, there must be two separate toilets”, said Elms.

Don’t think a “his toilet” means less. It’s not a linen closet; it’s a gym – and a Jacuzzi and sauna – topping off a bathroom complex that’s bigger than most homes.

“I don’t think there’s much limit in what people are demanding right now, and I do think there’s a high premium on having something very unique, very innovative, something that sort of displays a personal style”, said

It’s not only the “super rich”. The “kind-or-rich” just have to have the fancy tub.

Whatever your inner sanctum holds, hopefully nobody will be banging on that imported door and telling you to hurry up in there.
