A magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay Area Wednesday night, but no injuries or damage were immediately reported.

The quake struck just after 8 p.m. in Sonoma County, about 42 miles northwest of San Francisco, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
