Universal Orlando to raise ticket prices

Universal Orlando is raising its one-day, one-park adult ticket price from $63 to $67, the company announced Friday, just days after Walt Disney World also raised their prices.

Universal Orlando is raising its one-day, one-park adult ticket price from $63 to $67, the company announced Friday, just days after Walt Disney World also raised their prices.

The increase, which goes into effect Saturday, will impact prices of various ticket packages at Universal's two theme parks: Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

A Universal spokeswoman declined to comment on whether the price hike was in response to Disney's announcement. Disney raised their ticket prices for the second time this year from $63 to $67 on Sunday.

The company's most popular ticket, a two-day, two-park ticket available over the Internet that offers three free days, will remain consistent at $99.95, Gordon said.

Price wars have become an annual rite between Orlando's major theme parks. When Disney raised its price from $59.75 to $63 plus tax in January, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando also raised their ticket prices. Walt Disney World is owned by Walt Disney Co.

A spokeswoman for SeaWorld recently said the company had no plans to raise ticket prices.

SeaWorld is owned by a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Cos., and Universal Orlando is part-owned by a unit of NBC Universal Inc., a unit of General Electric Co.
