Two Democratic senators will drop their objections to President Bush's pick to head the Food and Drug Administration, a congressional spokeswoman said Thursday after the agency approved wider access to the so-called 'morning-after' pill.

Sens. Patty Murray of Washington and Hillary Clinton of New York had said they would block a full Senate vote on Acting FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach until the FDA made its decision.

But Murray spokeswoman Alex Glass said the two lawmakers would now lift their hold after the FDA earlier Thursday approved Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s bid to sell its Plan B emergency contraceptive without a prescription to women 18 and older.
