Staples offers details on Corporate Express tie-up

Staples Inc. said Tuesday its integration of Dutch office supply company Corporate Express is well under way, and its three-year plan includes cost savings of $200 million to $300 million.

Staples Inc. said Tuesday its integration of Dutch office supply company Corporate Express is well under way, and its three-year plan includes cost savings of $200 million to $300 million.

The Framingham, Mass.-based company said it sought savings in areas such as purchasing, overhead costs and logistics network efficiencies.

Staples completed its acquisition of Corporate Express NV in July.

The company also announced the addition of certain Corporate Express executives to its management team. It named Peter Ventress as president of Staples International, a new position; Jay Mutschler as responsible for the company's Fortune 1000 accounts; Michael Zahra to lead the Canadian contract business; Peter Damman as chief of the European contract business; and Grant Harrod as chief of Corporate Express in Australia.
