ATLANTA 7, WASHINGTON 3
-----------------------

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Tim Hudson pitched effectively into the
seventh inning and led the Atlanta Braves to their fifth
consecutive victory with a 7-3 triumph over the Washington
Nationals.

Hudson (3-1) allowed two runs - one earned - and 10 hits with
two walks and three strikeouts over 6 2/3 frames. The
righthander improved to 2-0 against the Nationals in three
starts this season.

Brian McCann blasted a solo home run in the second and Matt Diaz
had three hits for the Braves, who scored six runs in the first
three innings.

CHICAGO CUBS 7, NY METS 1
-------------------------

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Carlos Zambrano tossed seven strong innings
to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 7-1 victory over the New York Mets.

Zambrano (3-1) has recorded three victories at Wrigley Field
this season, allowing only a run-scoring double-play groundout
from Jose Reyes before departing for a pinch hitter in the
bottom of the seventh. The righthander yielded five hits and
two walks with four strikeouts.

Following a leadoff single by Derrek Lee to open the fourth,
Aramis Ramirez took a first-pitch fastball from starter John
Maine (1-2) over the fence in left-center field for a two-run
blast to break the scoreless tie.

Ronny Cedeno added a two-run single in the eighth before Felix
Pie belted a three-run homer in Chicago's five-run inning.

LA DODGERS 9, CINCINNATI 3
--------------------------

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Rafael Furcal and Nomar Garciaparra each
homered, powering the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-3 victory over
the Cincinnati Reds.

Furcal opened up the scoring on the second pitch of the game
when he muscled a fastball from Reds starter Matt Belisle (0-1)
just over the right-field fence for his second leadoff home run
of the season. He singled and scored in the second on an RBI
single from Garciaparra to earn a 3-0 advantage for the Dodgers,
who snapped a three-game slide.

After adding two runs apiece in the third and fifth innings, Los
Angeles extended the lead to 9-2 as Garciaparra lined a
changeup from reliever Josh Fogg into the stands in left for a
two-run shot, his first home run of the season for the Dodgers.

The offensive outburst was more than enough for starter Brad
Penny (3-2), who yielded one run and six hits with two walks and
four strikeouts for his second straight win.

FLORIDA 10, PITTSBURGH 4
------------------------

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Dan Uggla had three hits, including a
home to lead the Florida Marlins to a 10-4 victory over the
Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

Uggla went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI for
Florida, which pounded out 16 hits in sending Pittsburgh to its
sixth straight loss.

Hanley Ramirez and Josh Willingham also homered for the Marlins.

Mark Hendrickson (4-1) allowed four runs - three earned - and
eight hits in eight innings to pick up the win for Florida.
