A teenager was appearing in court on Wednesday charged with terrorism offences and possession of an explosive substance after police said they found bomb-making equipment at his home in Bristol.

Andrew Ibrahim, 19, was arrested earlier this month. Soon afterwards, bomb disposal experts carried out three small controlled explosions at the site.
Ibrahim is charged with possession of an explosive substance, hexamethylene triperoxide diamine, a chemical that can be made from household ingredients, with intent "to endanger life or cause serious injury to property".

He is also charged with possessing articles for terrorist purposes, including two homemade vests, ball bearings, air gun pellets, nails and screws, as well as engaging in conduct with intention to commit acts of terrorism.
He will appear at Westminster magistrates' court in London.
