Lone Star State Shootouts

With the regular season winding down district titles and playoff berths are on the line all over the state of Texas this weekend. Heres a rundown of the games to watch

Class 5As new number one, the Woodlands faces another unbeaten Klein Forest for the District 15-5A championship.

In Class 4A unbeaten Ennis, that classifications top team, hosts unbeaten Corsicana, not only a big rival, but rated #6 in this weeks AP poll.

In Class 2A to once-beaten teams, Rosebud-Lott and McGregor square off for the District 21-2A lead in Rosebud. Defending state champion R-L is ranked #1 in the Harris poll and fifth in the AP poll, while McGregor checks in at #4 in the Harris and #9 in the AP.

Other Top Games in the Lone Star State:

* In Class 5A the city championship in Abilene is on the line, as Abilene High and Cooper battle it out at Shotwell Stadium.

*Baytown Lee and Port Arthur Memorial slug it out in District 22-5A.

*Tyler Lee, off their upset of Lufkin last week which propelled them into the #4 spot, hosts Longview, which has lost two showdown battles to Lee and Lufkin, in the first half of the District 11-5A double round robin.

*In Class 4A, Texarkana hosts Kilgore for the lead in District 13, while #9 Andrews hosts Frenship in a big 4-4A battle.

*Also in 4A: # 3 LaMarque should have an easy time of it with Santa Fe; No. 4 Brownwood goes to Granbury, and #5 Calallen crosses the bay to face old rival Gregory Portland.

* In 3A: Burnet will face Ingram before their highly anticipated matchup with Liberty Hill next week. Marlin and Lorena square off for the District 18-3A lead. #2 Bellville heads to Hempstead, #3 Gainesville hosts Whitesboro, and #4 Gilmer hosts Rains.

* In 2A top-ranked Garrison hosts Shelbyville, while Alto travels to San Augustine in big games in East Texas. #3 Tom Bean hosts Whitewright in the feature game in the north. In West Texas #2 Panhandle hosts Boys Ranch, #4 Crane hosts Colorado City and Shallowater hosts Idalou.

* Finally, in Class 1A, West Sabine, the top team plays at High Island while #2 Shiner is on the road at Falls City.
