Baseball player dies after getting hit

Brandon Patch, an 18-year-old who pitched for the Miles City Mavericks American Legion team in Montana, died Saturday morning after getting hit by a line drive Friday night.

The Associated Press reported that Patch was motionless for 20-30 minutes before being taken to a hospital. He was later flown to Great Falls on Friday evening and put on life support. A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed Patch died early Saturday morning.

The Friday night game was completed, but a Saturday contest was canceled.
