(SPANISH FORT, Ala.) Aug. 12 - Investigators say the little boy had a back row seat to a very violent encounter. He was in the backseat of a truck when his mother and her boyfriend were fighting in the front. At one point, when the mother was on the road and apparently injured, the boy told investigators he jumped out of the truck to go back and help her, but before 11-year-old Terrance could reach his mom, a car came along Stagecoach Road in Spanish Fort. He seen his mother get hit, Ruby Carroll says. Carroll is Terrance's grandmother and the mother of the victim, Lisa Taylor. Authorities say Taylor landed several feet from where the car hit her and not far from the feet of her son. The 34-year-old mother was dead. She cared for her child. She loved her child, Carroll says. Carroll is now helping take care of Terrance. That's gonna be very hard on him. He can't see his mother no more. Tuesday night, authorities say the three were headed home from a party. Lisa's relatives say Banks was drunk. Authorities confirm his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. As the adults argued in the front, investigators say Lisa got out of the moving vehicle. That is a possibility, Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Capt. Steve Arthur. The possibility that as she left the moving vehicle that his vehicle struck her, initially causing some injury. Then came the Saturn, followed by the impact, police and onlookers. Shorty Turberville lives near the crash sight. She says a bunch of police cars and a body laying in front of a car. The sheriff's office says Banks drove to their nearby home and walked back, adding insult to injury to this grieving mother. He could have stopped and checked on my baby instead of him leaving that accident, Carroll says. The driver of the Saturn has not been charged. Authorities expect to file additional charges against Banks. Court records show he's previously been arrested for DUI and burglary.
