Body found after house fire in Elkhart County

Bristol - A broadcast report says one body has been pulled from the rubble of a house that caught fire in Elkhart County, and two other people are missing and feared dead inside.

Bristol - A broadcast report says one body has been pulled from the rubble of a house that caught fire in Elkhart County, and two other people are missing and feared dead inside.

Police tell WSBT-TV in South Bend that the fire in the house just outside Bristol, about 10 miles north of Elkhart, was reported just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Family members are telling investigators three people should have been inside the home at the time of the fire. Crews had found one body by Tuesday afternoon.

According to WSBT, investigators had to obtain a search warrant before excavating equipment could be used to look for bodies. That was because the site is considered private property and the homeowner, who is presumed missing, could not give consent.
