Man vs. Wild episode filmed in AL airing Wed. on Discovery Channel

MONTGOMERY-The Discovery Channel’s adventure series “Man vs. Wild” with host Bear Grylls filmed at Little River Canyon in Northeast Alabama in March. The episode will premiere Wednesday, August 19th at 8 p.m. (central) on the Discovery Channel.
Tommy Fell with the Alabama Film Office helped producers research areas of Alabama that highlighted the state’s natural beauty in a remote wilderness location. The producers were also seeking locations that would require surviving life threatening situations.
“After scouting locations across Alabama it was determined that Little River Canyon had all of the elements that the show’s producers were seeking,“ said Fell. “It has natural beauty, wildlife and is in such a remote area that it can put your survival skills to the test as viewers will see Wednesday evening during the premiere.“
Once Little River Canyon was chosen as the production site, Israel Partridge of True Adventure Sports in Ft. Payne and Location Manager Craig McCraw of Eutaw provided location and environmental assistance.
“The filming of “Man vs. Wild” would not have happened without the assistance provided by Craig and Israel,“ Fell said. “They provided vast knowledge of the area as well as equipment for the production crew.“
The production company, Diverse Bristol, traveled from England with a crew of 15 and spent 3 weeks in Alabama working on logistical information and safety requirements. The company coordinated permit and film guidelines for Little River Canyon National Preserve with the National Park Service and the Alabama Department of Conservation.
Officials with Jacksonville State University, DeKalb County Tourism, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Department of Public Safety and the Chattokee Lodge in Leesburg provided additional assistance during filming.
