The first two mediations under a new Nevada program designed to help people stay in their homes have been scheduled for next month.
The Sept. 14 sessions involve homes in Las Vegas.
The program established by the 2009 Legislature assigns mediators to meet with struggling homeowners and lenders to try to find alternatives to foreclosure.

Program manager Verise Campbell says 97 mediators have completed training and were appointed last week. More are anticipated in the next few months.
She says the program has received more than 650 requests for mediation. Once it is operating at full capacity, she expects more than 1,000 mediations a month.
