Sale away to London

Last call for budget travelers seeking send-offs to England—vacations priced from $299 per person, including roundtrip airfare and six nights hotel

Perhaps you were distracted by visions of turkey legs dancing in your head? Or, maybe you were already making your way to the airport? If, for whatever reason, you missed our announcement the Wednesday before Thanksgiving about the extraordinary London vacation up for grabs, here’s a second chance to take advantage—the buy by date has been extended to Dec. 10 (this Wednesday) and we’re here to give you all the details. Again. It’s just too good to let slip by.

I guess you could say we’re always in the mood to skip off to London, and we assume you are too, which is why we regularly scour our sources for the best London deals going. This time, we can’t help but revisit Go-Today.com’s bundled $299 vacation (priced per person based on double occupancy), which includes roundtrip airfare on Virgin (or another major airline depending on availability) from New York City to London, six nights at the Terstan Hotel, continental breakfast daily, and all hotel taxes. The stand-out detail, as we pointed out earlier, is that one wouldn’t be able to stay in a London hostel for six nights (they tend to run upwards of $30 per night) for this low a price. Single travelers feel a bit of a pinch having to pay $200 additional, but extra nights cost only $31 per person.

THE FINE PRINT

Here’s what you need to know: you must travel to London on a Tuesday or Wednesday anytime between Jan. 11 and Feb. 23, 2004, and, of course, you must book no later than Dec. 10, 2003. Prices vary depending on the departure city, but here’s a smattering of example add-on fares from other gateways:

 • +$50 from: Newark, Boston, Philadelphia
 • +$100 from: Washington/Dulles
 • +$150 from: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Ft Worth
 • +$200 from: Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle
 • +$250 from: Austin, San Diego
 • +$300 from: Albuquerque, Tucson

For just $50 additional each way, you also have the option of leaving on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday—still a bloody brilliant price. For all the important details, or to book the trip, go to Go Today.com.

SAME PRICE, DIFFERENT DETAILS

We can’t exactly say that Gate 1 Travel’s current London promotion is as tantalizing as Go-Today’s, but we think it’s worth a mention, especially for travelers who don’t have a full week to spare for a vacation. For the same $299 (per person based on double occupancy) price, travelers receive roundtrip airfare on Virgin Airlines and three nights accommodation at the charming Eden Park Hotel in Kensington near Hyde Park. The single supplement is $81, and it is possible to extend your stay at a cost of $53 per night, which includes tax and breakfast. The catch here is that travel must happen on Jan. 29, 2003. For more information, contact Gate 1 Travel at 800-682-3333.
