Flight diverted due to unruly passenger

An American Airlines flight originating from Dallas and bound for Paris was diverted to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Wednesday evening because of an unruly passenger.

An American Airlines flight originating from Dallas and bound for Paris was diverted to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Wednesday evening because of an unruly passenger, NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV reports.

Flight 48 departed Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport at about 6:15 p.m. and was forced to change course when the man became disruptive, according to a Thursday morning statement from the Chicago FBI.

Witnesses say the passenger was intoxicated and became combative with the flight crew. Air Marshals on board intervened, and the passenger, identified as a "French national," was subdued.

He was removed from the aircraft and turned over to local authorities for questioning.

The aircraft, a Boeing 767, landed safely at O'Hare shortly after 8 p.m. The flight continued on to Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris and was due to arrive about three hours late.

The man was released with no charges filed.
