NJ Transit and Amtrak say service has been restored after a transformer fire halted trains and complicated morning commutes along the busy rail line between New York City and Philadelphia, WNBC reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. The fire — which reportedly caused overhead lines to lose power — idled about a dozen trains, according to The Associated Press.

NJ Transit managed to first restore Midtown Direct and North Jersey Coast Line service into and out of Manhattan.

By 6:45 a.m. ET, NJ Transit said rail service between Trenton and New York has resumed, subject to 10-15 minute delays due to "residual power problems." According to reports, delays are expected to linger in the transit system.

Amtrak says service between New York City and Philadelphia has been restored, but residual delays are expected.
