-- No more ladies' nights at bars in New Jersey.
The state's top civil rights official has ruled that gender-based promotions are discriminatory.
The ruling came after a man complained that women could get into Cherry Hill's Coastline nightclub for free and receive discounted drinks -- while men had to pay a five-dollar cover charge and full price for drinks.
The director of New Jersey's Division on Civil Rights rejected arguments by the nightclub that ladies' nights are a legitimate promotion.
The ruling applies statewide.
Judges in Pennsylvania and Iowa have made similar rulings. But courts in Illinois and Washington state have found ladies' nights are permissible.
