Groping victim's dad: 'Get this guy off the streets'

PORTLAND -- The father of a teenage girl who was sexually harassed at work made a plea to a Multnomah County judge Monday, to keep her alleged attacker behind bars.

PORTLAND -- The father of a teenage girl who was sexually harassed at work made a plea to a Multnomah County judge Monday, to keep her alleged attacker behind bars.

Last week, the same suspect allegedly harassed another young girl at her home.

Themba Kelley, 44, is accused of grabbing, verbally harassing and then demonstrating a sex toy to a 16-year-old girl working at a Capitol Highway ice cream shop alone one night in January.

The girl's father, Michael Kiriazis, is upset Kelley got out of jail and almost did it again to another girl in July. At Kelley's probation violation hearing Monday, Kiriazis addressed the judge.

"My plea to you is, if there's any way to get this guy off the streets, it needs to happen," said Kiriazis. "Not for revenge for what he did to my daughter, but for protection for future daughters."

Seven months later, Michael Kiriazis says his daughter is still dealing with the disturbing advances from Themba Kelley.

Police say he walked into her Southwest Portland Baskin Robbins store while she was closing up.

That sex abuse case is still pending, but in the meantime, Kelley was ordered to stay away from minors on his probation.

A week ago Sunday, police say Kelley rode his bike up to a Northeast Portland home where the front door was open and he saw a 12-year-old girl in a swimsuit watching TV on the couch.

He allegedly whispered for her to come outside, until her uncle chased Kelley away. He came back again, and that's when police were called and Kelley was arrested, but only on a probation violation.

Mother Cindy Johnston is glad the first victim's family is taking such a stand for her daughter.

"He (Kelley) obviously is very crazy and for him to be brazen enough to come back, I don't think they should let him out at all," said Johnston after the court hearing. "He should stay in there until he rots."

Themba Kelley will be back in court Friday to hear testimony from the 12-year-old girl in the probation violation case. The judge can decide if Kelley will get a portion of the two years in jail he faces for the violation.
