Rudy Lopez, a senior organizer for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement and former political director at the Center for Community Change, has been crisscrossing the country as part of the Fast For Families Bus Tour. During a six-week tour ending April 9th, two buses have traversed more than two dozen states and visited around 75 congressional districts.

Lopez, who was part of the group who fasted for 22 days in November to call attention to the need for immigration reform, said his tour's "success" has been clear. "Faith leaders, business people, public officials and the American public overall is behind us," he said. But he said there was anger at the "dysfunction" and the lack of movement in the Republican-led House. "The tragedy is they've put politics ahead of progress."

"We're not here to debate the details of legislation or how it's done - we're more interested in the outcome rather than the process," added Lopez. "If they want to go step by step, then take the first step."

Lopez attended one of Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) town halls in Janesville, Wisconsin. "Ryan also said he was frustrated we haven't moved forward and said they're working on it," said Lopez. "We were there to thank him for him for the encouraging things he said, but our message to him was to call on his party to move forward.
