Sofia Vergara's feud with ex-fiance Nick Loeb continues to play out in public.

In a statement to NBC, Loeb said he wants to bring the two female embryos that he and Vergara had frozen when they were together to full term. Loeb has sued Vergara, the star of Modern Family, over the embryos.

"I created these two female embryos with the purpose of bringing them to term and not destruction because I have always dreamed of being a father," Loeb said. Vergara's attorney responded in a statement to People magazine that Vergara never wanted to have the embryos destroyed.

The public feud is prompting discussion about fertilization and parenting, said Tamron Hall of NBC's Today show.

As NBC wrote last week, the state of California does not treat the embryos as people, Vergara can't destroy them without Loeb's consent and Loeb can't use the embryos and have children without Vergara's consent.
