A Pennsylvania fire chief is being hailed as a hero after pulling an unconscious driver from a burning car Monday morning.

The daring rescue, caught by Chief Nate Tracey's dashboard camera, occurred after a car collided with a utility pole and erupted in York Township, Pennsylvania.

Tracey told the York Dispatch that he was the first responder to the scene. When he arrived, he said he could see some bystanders about 100 feet from the car and thought they might have pulled the driver from the car. He told the newspaper he did not see anyone lying on the grass nearby, so he knew the driver was still in the vehicle.

"I pretty much realized, in a matter of seconds, if there was anybody involved in that crash, they were still in the car," he told the paper.

As for his heroics, Tracey said, "That's what we're here for."
