A tornado first spotted near Plainfield, Indiana, rolled through Indianapolis on Tuesday afternoon, causing damage to homes and power lines and uprooting trees.

Some houses suffered significant damage, according to Brian Russel, fire chief at the Plainfield Indiana Fire Department, but he said no injuries had been reported.

"The wind was blowing so hard and the trees were just sideways," a witness in the Plainfield area area told local TV station RTV 6. "I was like 'Kids, get in the bathroom right now.' So, we grabbed the animals and got right in. We were ready."

The Indianapolis Star reported that homes were also damaged in Wayne Township.
