President Barack Obama on Wednesday said he could use some company with the rest of the First Family out of the country.

"Michelle and the girls are on their way to China, it's very lonely at home," Obama told an audience ahead of a screening of the movie "Cesar Chavez" at the White House. "So nothing better than to see an inspiring film, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the chronicled life of one of my heroes and one of the people who inspired me to get into the work I got into."

First Lady Michelle Obama, along with daughters Malia and Sasha and mother Marian Robinson, set off to China on Wednesday for an eight-day trip focused on promoting education and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Obama could not stay for the screening of the film based on the life of the farm labor activist. The president did, however, mistakenly ask for a CD of the movie so he could view it over the weekend.

"I cannot stay for the screening...Somebody's going to get me the CD. Or whatever, I'm a little technologically challenged -- the DVD," Obama said. "The point is I'm going to watch it this weekend."
