Michael Brown's family pleaded with protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, to take the day off Monday as they bury the teenager killed by a police officer more than two weeks ago. "All I want is peace while my son is being laid to rest," Michael Brown Sr. said at an anti-violence rally called Peacefest. "Can you please, please take a day of silence so we can lay our son to rest?" President of the Nation Action Network Rev. Al Sharpton echoed the call, telling the crowd: "This is not about outrage tomorrow. It's about the legacy and memory of his son." Al Sharpton is also a host on MSNBC.

They were followed on the stage by the parents of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teenager shot to death by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in Florida two years ago. "Michael Brown had a right to live. He had a right to see another birthday. He had a right just like anyone else to walk down the street," said Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton. His father, Tracy Martin, urged parents to make sure their children are educated. "We don't want to give them no reason to assassinate our children," he said. George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder.
