Can't stand seeing status updates from your ex? Now Facebook is letting users avoid their former partners without the awkwardness of blocking or unfriending them.

"Starting today, we are testing tools to help people manage how they interact with their former partners on Facebook after a relationship has ended," wrote Facebook product manager Kelly Winters.

"When people change their relationship status to indicate they are no longer in a relationship, they will be prompted to try these tools."

Yes, instead of enduring status updates about how happy they are with their new partner, you can simply pretend they don't exist.

Choose to "see less" of someone to make sure their posts don't show up in your News Feed. You will also generally see their name and profile picture less as you use Facebook, possibly to post sad pictures of you watching Netflix with your cat.

Want to spare your former partner some pain? You can remove your photos, videos and status updates from their News Feed as well. Facebook users can also untag themselves from old posts.

Right now, Facebook is testing the new tool on mobile, and while a notification pops up automatically after you change your relationship status, it's also available in the Facebook help center anytime.
